Charlie Jones is a Washington, D.C. based artist whose works of Mixed Media on heavy canvas are heavily influenced by his extensive world travels and derived from the diverse cultures, customs, colors, and textures he has experienced abroad.
He paints with layers of vivid color combinations, energetic textures, and dynamic compositions rich with bold and subtle transitions, taking the viewer on a self-guided abstract journey.
"I am most satisfied with a painting when the viewer appreciates the large and small compositions that co-exist in a connected and harmonious way. I've had a very weird learning curve in that I started painting to create interesting 'accidents' of shape and color in the composition and then stepping back and going, how did I do that?!" says Jones.
Now, nearly two decades later, he creates captivating compositions, whether accidental or not, that take the viewer into a dimension of exploration and study.
